IMPORTANT WARNINGS
1. Insulation must NEVER RESTRICT AIRFLOW into the burner area located at the bottom of the tank on a gas water heater.
2. Do not cover or restrict top venting hood, pressure relief valve (located on the top or side of the tank), or burner access cover.
3. On electric water heaters, do not put insulation over access cover or the wiring connection box.
*ALL VENTING AND COMBUSTION AIR OPENINGS MUST BE CLEAR OFINSULATION AT ALL TIMES.
*NEVER INSTALL OVER OR NEAR DEFECTIVE OR EXPOSED ELECTRICAL WIRING.
Directions:
Step 1. Make sure the tank is clean, free of grease or oily film.
Step 2. Install Spacer Strips around tank at the top and middle. Use small pieces of tape provided to hold in place.
Step 3. Measure and cut Water Heater Jacket to correct size, allowing 1” clearance around pilot flame opening.
Step 4. Wrap Water Heater Jacket around water heater making sure it is even with the bottom edge of the tank. Tape the edges and vertical seam with tape provided.
Step 5. Trim excess insulation from around top edge of tank, pilot access opening and any valves.
Step 6. Cut two half circles from the extra insulation to cover the top of the tank.
Important: Leave at least 1” clearance around exhaust stack on gas water heaters. Tape all seams on top of tank.
